UK rapeseed crop falls by 30.4 percent – ministry

LONDON, Oct 13 (Reuters) – Britain’s rapeseed crop fell by 30.4 percent this year to 1.77 million tonnes reflecting declines in planted area and yields, the country’s farm ministry said on Thursday.

Rapeseed yields fell by 21.5 percent to 1.25 tonnes per acre while area was 11.2 percent lower at 1.43 million acres, the ministry said in a report.

The report also provided more details on its forecast for the UK wheat crop of 14.47 million tonnes issued last week, releasing data on yields and area.

Wheat area fell a marginal 0.5 percent to 4.51 million acres while the yield fell 11.6 percent to 3.2 tonnes per acre, leading to a 12 percent decline in production.
