Multitasking Mega Mixer makes shovel obsolete

The Danuser Mega Mixer helps farmers scoop, mix, carry and dispense a wide variety of materials such as bag-mix concrete, livestock feed and manure.

Mega Mixer is a three-quarter yard bucket with a hydraulically driven eight-inch diameter mix auger running side-to-side. The auger can dispense a full hopper of two-inch diameter rock in less than 35 seconds, unloading to either the left or right side.

Danuser’s idea is that the same bucket that mixes and augers feed into the troughs in the morning can mix and pour concrete in the afternoon and then be hosed out in time for the afternoon feeding.

The implement, which Danuser designed for skid steer loaders and small front-wheel-assist tractors, is built with integral cutting edges so it doesn’t need to have the load dumped in. It can scoop into sand, gravel, feed grain, silage, dry topsoil, sawdust and a variety of other materials.

Mega Mixer is available with an all-steel auger or a rubber flighted auger for wet materials. It comes standard with dual safety grates.

The unit features a bag buster, lockable discharge gate, click-pin holders and laser cut yardage markers that are easy for the operator to see.

Each Mega Mixer includes two 24-inch multi-link chutes that store conveniently on the bucket. Additional chutes are available with chain mounting holes for stronger support. A lockable discharge flap limits spilling and allows for faster material mixing. A recent factory notice states that the Mega Mixer is not intended for mulching.

Danuser introduced the Mega Mixer last fall. The company’s Kurt Schellenberger said a large number of the machines have been sold to farmers.

In Canada, Mega Mixer and other Danuser products are available from Adair Sales and Marketing in Swift Current, Sask. George Adair says the steel auger unit lists for $7,841, while the rubber auger unit lists for $8,626.
