Pushing farmers

I’ve got a couple of comments I would like to express to your readers. The first one is on contracted seed, which companies like Monsanto offer.

I believe the bottom line to all this is not developing resistant plants to help in producing food for the planet. These companies, if allowed to continue, will eventually own a major proportion (if not all) of the food grown in the world. What power they would have.

Allowing more mega animal factories such as Taiwan Sugar’s proposed hog farm is again giving large companies the control over our food supply.

Once they are set up and have pushed small farmers out of business, how do we get rid of them once they are established?

I do not and will not support them. I buy only certified organic (GM seed is not allowed) through my farmer’s market and grocer. My meat is bought from small producers who are certified organic or who raise them traditionally; no antibiotics or growth hormones. …
