Swath rollers keep canola in check after it’s cut, but they can be a chore when it comes to installing and backing and are generally over-width for transporting on highways.Hauser’s Machinery of Melville, Sask., has a new swath roller that can be turned lengthways for transport, installs behind the swather with a pair of hitches and rolls on castor wheels.The roller’s castors and paired ball hitches that attach to the steering axle of the swather frame keep the unit fixed behind the swather but allow it some flexibility to accommodate uneven terrain.Tight swather turns are mimicked by the casters keeping the unit placed directly behind the swather, parallel to fore and aft line of the swather’s frame.The company has produced the 10-foot-wide, steel roller for 10 years and decided it could improve on the hitch and transport system.In transport, the 16-foot-wide roller and frame is compacted to less than eight feet.The Revo will be on display in the New Inventions area of the Farm Progress Show in Regina June 16-18.For more information: www.hausers.ca/ or call 306-728-2101.
