– Chileans have voted overwhelmingly in favour of replacing the country’s constitution, which was originally imposed by Augusto Pinochet’s military dictatorship 40 years ago. Exit polls showed over 78 per cent of voters were in favour of rewriting the constitution. The new constitution must now be drafted by a popularly elected body with a goal of submitting it to voters in 2022.
– Saskatchewan voters go to the polls Monday to elect a new provincial government. The ruling Saskatchewan Party held 46 seats in the 61-seat legislature ahead of the vote, with the New Democratic Party forming the opposition.

– The United States Senate is expected to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the country’s Supreme Court on Monday. Barrett was appointed by Republican President Donald Trump after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Democrats have expressed concern over the rapid pace of confirmation, as no nominee has ever been confirmed so close to a presidential election. If confirmed, Barrett would shift the Court to a 6-3 conservative majority.
