Chris Sutter, the founding president of Canadian Western Agribition, died March 14 in Calgary at age 94.

Sutter was born and raised in Redvers, Sask., and spent most of his life there.

Aqua Hollow Hereford Ranch became well known for its quality. In 1957, Sutter won the first-ever grand championship for a polled Hereford female at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.

He exported cattle around the world and was also known for his promotion of agriculture in Saskatchewan.

A past-president of both the provincial and national Hereford associations, he was also inducted into several agricultural halls of fame, including the Canadian hall.

Sutter is survived by his wife, Vera, five children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at Knox United Church in Redvers.
