For the third time in less than a month, CWB has updated Pool Return Outlooks for its early delivery and annual pools.

PROs released today project lower returns for wheat, durum, canola and field peas.

CWB said a larger-than-expected harvest is pressuring cash prices.

A strengthening Canadian dollar is also having a negative impact on returns.

Projected returns for wheat are $10 to $15 lower in the early delivery pool and $8 to $13 lower in the annual pool.

PROs for canola are down $31 to $33, amber durum is down $12 and field peas are down $15 per tonne.

Alberta crop conditions improve: report

Varied precipitation and warm temperatures were generally beneficial for crop development across Alberta during the week ended July 8, according to the latest provincial crop report released July 11.

Malting barley was unchanged at $300 per tonne for early and annual pools.

CWB says the western Canadian wheat harvest is about 50 percent complete with above average yields, below average protein and average grades.

Protein premiums and discounts on wheat have already begun to widen, it added.

The early delivery PRO for No. 1 CWRS wheat 12.5 percent protein was lowered to $279 per tonne from $293 on Aug 29.

The early delivery PRO for No. 1 CWAD 12.5 protein was $313, down from $325.

Durum values continue to drift lower with early harvest results confirming a large, low protein crop.

In canola, weather concerns for the U.S soybean crop are strongly influencing canola prices in Canada. But expectations of a large Canadian canola crop are putting downward pressure on markets.

Prices for yellow field peas are down sharply at export position and in the country, due mainly to harvest pressure, CWB said.

PROS for 2 Canada yellow field peas were listed at $295 per tonne, down from $330 on Aug. 15.

A complete list of PROs for different grades and delivery options is posted on the CWB website at www.cwb.ca.
