SASKATOON — Arnold Balicki from Shellbrook is the new Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association chair.
Balicki replaces Rick Toney from Gull Lake, who remains on the board as past-chair.
Moving into executive roles are Keith Day of Kyle as vice-president, Dean Moore from Paradise Hill as finance chair and Brad Welter from Viscount as member-at-large.
All were elected after the SCA annual meeting in Saskatoon.
New board members taking office are Randy Stokke from Consul in District 4, Brian Cole from St. Brieux in District 8 and Garrett Poletz from Biggar, representing the Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association.
Resolutions passed at the meeting included a request to add an additional premium table to the Western Livestock Price Insurance Program for calves that weigh between 650 and 750 pounds and move to market in spring.
Outgoing SCFA director Chad Ross noted that many producers have moved calving time back and calves aren’t going to market in the traditional fall run.
Also during the meeting, two Canadian Cattlemen’s Association representatives whose terms were expiring were re-elected by acclamation. They are Pat Hayes of Val Marie and Reg Schellenberg from Beechy.
