SaskPower is reminding farmers to be exercise caution as they seed this spring.
The utility has received notification of 51 contacts, with 25 of those occurring between May 1-15.
The number of line contacts continues to increase daily.
Fortunately, no one has been seriously injured or killed, but the danger is real.
Many of the contacts of the last few weeks were due to farm equipment being too close to the power lines.
Farmers, their families and labourers should take the extra time when working near electricity:
• Take the time to identify the hazards around you.
• Plan routes in advance.
• Lower large equipment such as grain augers, air seeders and air sprayers during transport.
• Use a spotter on the ground to warn you of any dangers when moving equipment.
• Call before you dig at 866-828-4888 or visit www.sask1stcall.com.
