Weldcraft TIG torch

Weldcraft’s air-cooled WP-17 TIG torch series now includes the patented

diamond grip, which helps operators to better maintain a secure grip for torch control in all welding positions.

The ergonomic torch body helps the operator maintain the correct relationship between the torch and weld joint and helps to reduce downtime associated with operator fatigue.

The ribbed handle remains cool after prolonged operation.

Seed treatment changes

Starting in 2007, Charter cereal seed treatment will be sold under the terms of a new registration, which specifies a new use rate of 300 millilitres diluted product per 100 kilograms of seed.

With this new registration, Charter is expected to provide better control of diseases including seed-borne fusarium spp. (seed rot and seedling blight) as well as the addition of cochliobolus (suppression) to its label.

In addition to these diseases, Charter provides control of diseases in wheat, barley and oats including common bunt, true loose smut and covered smut.

Charter is available in a water-based concentrate and will be packaged in a 6.2 litre jug (two jugs per case) or in a 133.4 litre drum. With these changes, Charter also offers improved convenience as the need for use of dye with respect to case goods has been eliminated.

Ag Leader SeedCommand

Ag Leader Technology, Inc., a manufacturer of precision farming equipment and software, recently introduced SeedCommand to its Insight display. SeedCommand implements the AutoSwath feature on planters, allowing operators to automatically turn individual planter sections on and off, saving money on seed costs and making planting easier.

SeedCommand also allows growers to map variety/hybrid locations and record split-planter operations for better record keeping and decision making.

“SeedCommand is a great feature set that expands the Insight display’s capabilities and value even further,” said Roger Zielke, new business development manager for ag leader. “Seedcommand helps growers save money and valuable time.”

SeedCommand’s AutoSwath feature automatically controls the Tru Count planter clutches. The clutches control the seed meter drive from the planter transmission, enabling planter sections to be turned on and off automatically based on already planted areas or areas designated not to plant, which helps reduce overplanting of seed on end rows, point rows, terraces and waterways.

SeedCommand also saves time by eliminating the need to slow down to lift and lower the planter on end rows.

Matt Freund, from J.W. Freund Farms, Inc., who ran the product for the 2006 planting season, said: “We used the SeedCommand AutoSwath feature over 3,000 acres of corn and soybeans and saved $5,700.00 on seed costs.”
