Hopper cover

Signature Seat Cover in Elm Creek, Man., has a new line of custom-made hopper covers in colors that complement the combine.

The tarps cover the grain tanks on all makes and models of combines. They allow farmers to leave their combines in the field overnight without fear of rain damaging the grain. They also eliminate time spent cleaning wet grain out of hoppers. They can be left on while thrashing to prevent grain from blowing out.

The covers are made of 18-oz. PVC-coated nylon that is double-stitched.

Seed-bed builder

Unverferth Manufacturing has a new one-pass bed-building implement.

The BDR 3600 combines the hardpan shattering action of ripper-bedders with the building features of disc bedders. It is available in three-row, 60 or 66-inch models.

Heavy-duty front disk gangs lead the unit through the field and feature 24-in. notched blades for cutting heavy crop residue. They can be set at 10, 15 or 20-degree angles. Three in-furrow, depth-adjustable parabolic subsoil shanks follow the front gangs to shatter hardpan.

Next are three in-bed shanks with hard-faced reversible points. They are followed by a second row of disk gangs equipped with 24-in. solid blades that are also adjustable for angle and pitch.

Four 10-in. furrowing shovels follow the rear disk gangs.
