Taper wheel

A tapered finger wheel clears away surface residue ahead of planter openers on the Yetter 2967 Residue Manager.

The new wheel design features 16 tapered fingers that are wider at the base and taper to a narrow tip. The added base width gives more rigidity and durability and the taper provides more strength while allowing residue to slide off more easily.

The wheel turns quickly to move residue without disrupting the soil and reduces hairpinning. It is designed to provide more uniform planting depth and improved seed trench closure.

Each residue manager is adjustable for depth in 1Ú4-inch increments and can be positioned left or right. The hubs use smooth-headed carriage bolts to limit snagging in heavy residue crops. For more information contact a Yetter dealer or call Pat Whalen at 1-800-447-5777.

New registration

Canola growers now have the option of ground as well as aerial application with Ronilan EG. The BASF Canada product is a contact fungicide for control of sclerotinia that can be applied from the 20 to 50 percent canola bloom stage.

Ronilan EG has been used for aerial application since 1995 and is now registered at two rates: 0.3 kilograms per acre and 0.4 kg/acre. The higher rate is recommended when there is a heavy crop canopy, high humidity and excessive rainfall, conditions which favor sclerotinia.

The fungicide will be available in water soluble bags so the grower doesn’t need to come in direct contact with the chemical. For more information contact a farm chemicals dealer.
