SASKATOON (Staff) — A new biotechnology company has signed a preliminary agreement to set up shop in Saskatchewan.
KingAgro Canada will focus on the development, commercialization and marketing of canola seed.
“This is very good news for the province,” said economic development minister Dwain Lingenfelter.
“This project relocates a canola research station from Ontario to Saskatchewan and establishes the Saskatchewan-based subsidiary of a multinational seed company.”
The agreement finalizes negotiations between SEDCO and Groupe Limagrain, a French genetic co-operative, the world’s third largest seed company.
SEDCO is investing $6 million in the venture.
