Tests discontinued
No more soil and feed samples from the public will be accepted by Alberta Agriculture’s soil and animal nutrition lab, the department reports. Instead it will focus on research and diagnostic work. The change took effect April 1.
Dan Heaney, acting director of the lab, said producers will now have to send their samples of farm soil, garden soil, greenhouse media, farm feed, mushroom soil and manure analysis samples to private companies for testing.
There are eight such labs in Alberta, located in Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge and Brooks.
