Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $550-$580 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $530-$560 per cwt. for finished heifers.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$430-$455 per cwt. for bulls and $410-$430 per cwt. for heifers. Prices for mature bulls and mature cows were not available All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were in the C$30 per pound range for bulls and $2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better.
The mixed live animal price per lb. was not available.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 306 sheep and 595 lambs sold Oct. 7.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,969 sheep and 582 goats sold Oct. 7.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $260-$345 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $270-$315, 70-85 lb. were $235-$288, 86-105 lb. were $210-$255, and 106 lb. and heavier were $205-$235. Wool rams were $120-$165 per cwt. Cull ewes were $120-$220.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $250-$335, 55-69 lb. were $240-$310, 70-85 lb. were $230-$270, 86-105 lb. were $210-$245 and 106 lb. and heavier were $205-$220. Hair rams were $130-$165 per cwt. Cull ewes were $130-$215.
