Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was not available Aug 10 or Aug 18.

U.S. hogs averaged $93.52 on a carcass basis Aug 18, down from $95.95 on Aug 10.

The U.S. pork cutout was $ 106.17 per hundred weight Aug 18, down from $110.08 on Aug 10.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Aug 18 was 2.353 million. It was 2.280 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.347 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Aug 19 Signature Four price was $242.27 per 100 kilograms, down from $247.56.

OlyWest 2021 was down, at $259.70 from $262.40 and HyLife’s adjusted price was $ 255.32; on Aug 12 was $261.59.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 636 sheep and 863 lambs sold Aug 14.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta. reported 2207 sheep and 454 goats sold Aug 14.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $175-$220 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $180-$215, 70-85 lb. were $185-$230, 86-105 lb. were $190-$243, and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$243. Wool rams were $100-$196 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$190.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $150-$190, 55-69 lb. were $170-$195, 70-85 lb. were $180-$210, 86-105 lb. were $185-$225 and 106 lb. and heavier were $195-$230. Hair rams were $111-$160 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$160.
