Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts for Feb. 16 was $59.39, up from $53.57 Feb. 3.

U.S. hogs averaged $76.82 on a carcass basis Feb. 16, down from $77.05 Feb. 10.

The U.S. pork cutout was $83.06 per hundredweight Feb. 16, up from $81.05 Feb. 10.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Feb. 16 was 1.920 million, down from 2.405 the previous week.

Slaughter was 1.866 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Feb. 17 Signature Four price was C$187.18 per 100 kilograms, up from $184.78.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $185.18, up from $182.78, HyLife was up to $199.21 from $196.58 the previous week and OlyWest was $178.80, up from $174.40.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $190.90, from $188.70, and HyLife’s adjusted price was up to $199.21 from $196.68.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 449 sheep and 427 lambs sold Jan. 30.

Beaver Hill Auctions in Tofield, Alta. reported that 1,655 sheep and 518 goats sold Feb. 13.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $210-239 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $220-252, 70-85 lb. were $200-250, 86-105 lb. were $205-246 and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-245. Wool rams were $100-142 per cwt. Cull ewes were $190-260.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $180-226, 55-69 lb. were $190-245, 70-85 lb. were $210-246, 86-105 lb. were $205-235 and 106 lb. and heavier were $185-219. Hair rams were $120-200 per cwt. Cull ewes were $105-215.
