Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts Feb. 23 was $56.50; It was not available Feb. 16.
U.S. hogs averaged $71.49 on a carcass basis Feb. 23, up from $67.34 Feb. 16.
The U.S. pork cutout was $91.16 per hundredweight Feb. 23, up from $89.79 Feb. 16.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Feb. 23 was 2.442 million. It was 2.437 million on the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.184 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Feb. 24 Signature Four price was $189.58 per 100 kilograms, up from $183.01.

The Feb. 24 Hams Marketing cash price was $187.58, while on Feb. 17 it was $ 181.01. HyLife was $204.22 this week, and on Feb. 17 it was $195. OlyWest was $183, up from $178.70.
OlyWest 2021 was up, at $200.70, from $196.4,0 and HyLife’s adjusted price was $209.40, while on Feb. 17 it was $201.25.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices for finished bulls of $475 to $550 per cwt., hot hanging weight. Finished heifers were $465 to $510 cwt. Mature bulls were $300 to $400 cwt., while mature cows were $300 to $400 cwt.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$390 to $425 per cwt. for bulls, while heifers were $340 to US$395 per cwt.. Mature bulls were $313 to $326, while mature cows were $300 to $315 per cwt. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were $2.50 to $3.70 per pound for bulls and $2 to $2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was $1.60 to $2.38 per lb.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 544 sheep and 126 lambs sold Feb. 19.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta. reported that 1,930 sheep and 210 goats sold Feb. 12.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $310-$365 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $300-$365, 70-85 lb. were $280-$338, 86-105 lb. were $240-$329, and 106 lb. and heavier were $220-$279. Wool rams were $110-$210 per cwt. Cull ewes were $125-$170.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $290-$335, 55-69 lb. were $275-$335, 70-85 lb. were $260-$322, 86-105 lb. were $225-$305 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$254. Hair rams were $125-$175 per cwt. Cull ewes were $105-$217.
