Canadian Forex Midday: C$ holding steady

WINNIPEG, Aug. 18 – The Canadian dollar was holding near unchanged at midday Tuesday, as a slightly firmer tone in crude oil provided some support for the energy-linked currency.
At 11:51 CDT, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.7648 or US$1=C$1.3075 which compares with Monday’s close of US$0.7642 or US$=C$1.3085.
Crude oil prices remain near their lowest levels in over six years, but were showing a modest correction at midday Tuesday.
No significant economic data was released by Statistics Canada on Tuesday.
Analysts are looking to a US Federal Reserve policy meeting on Wednesday for indications on where US interest rates will be heading.
At midday Tuesday the Toronto Stock Exchange was weaker, down 56.67 points at 11:51 CDT, to sit at 14,194.86.
