WINNIPEG – The Canadian dollar stayed below the United States 80 cent mark on Friday.
As of 8:47 a.m. CDT, the loonie was at US$0.7943 or US$1=C$1.2590, compared to US$0.7954 or US$1=C$1.2572 when markets closed on Thursday.
Crude oil was higher on Friday, but is still set for its biggest weekly decline since March. Brent crude oil rose US$0.20 per barrel to US$73.67. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) increased US$0.23 to US$71.88/barrel. Western Canadian Select (WCS) gained US$0.39 to US$58.64/barrel.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index moved up 14.85 points at 20,198.57.
Gold declined US$5.89 per ounce to US$1,823.58.
