Calgary Stampede offers art scholarships

Southern Alberta students completing Grade 12 this year are invited to submit artworks to the Calgary Stampede western showcase art show.

Winners are eligible for scholarships of up to $1,000 and must provide proof of attendance in an accredited fine arts program within two years of winning the award.

The work must depict themes of western culture, lifestyle, heritage and characters, including but not limited to the following: ranching, landscape, floral, rodeo, agriculture, first nations and portraits.

Entries must be received by April 30, 2001.

All work is displayed for the duration of the 2001 Calgary Stampede from July 6 to July 15.

Art must be accompanied by a completed official entry available by contacting the Agriculture Office, 2nd floor, Agriculture Building, Stampede, Calgary. Duckworth won many awards from the Canadian Farm Writers Association, American Agricultural Editors Association, the North American Agricultural Journalists and the International Agriculture Journalists Association.
