The family of a young boy fighting for his life in a Saskatoon hospital is asking sympathizers to donate to STARS air ambulance.

Ten-year-old Cody Sibbald of Beechy, Sask., was critically injured in a tractor accident on the family farm July 8. Paramedics with the helicopter service were able to revive him and took him to the intensive care unit at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, where his parents, Russell and Cindy Sibbald, remain at his bedside.

The family was originally from near Calgary and moved to Beechy when Cody was two years old, said his uncle, Jay Sibbald.

The little boy loved showing cattle and his ambition was to show his 4-H grand champion at the Calgary Stampede steer show. Jay drove to Saskatchewan to pick up the black steer and Cody’s cousin, Maddy, showed it at the July 12 event.

“It was Cody’s dream to show that steer at the Calgary Stampede. He was always talking about it,” said Sibbald.

It placed in the middle of its class.

Those attending the Stampede steer show were told about the accident and what might be done to help. More than $27,000 has been raised.
