NORTHWEST

Humidex values approached 40 C as temperatures soared with little to no precipitation. However, most areas have adequate moisture.
Much of the winter wheat and fall rye crops are completed with yields in the 55 to 90 bushel per acre range, while early reports for spring wheat are 60 to 70 bu. per acre.
Significant swathing progress has been made in eastern regions, and combining is well underway with reports of 40 to 50 bu. per acre in the best looking stands.
Lygus bugs are at threshold levels or higher, and most fields are sprayed.
Second cut hay is almost complete with good yield and quality.
EASTERN
Rainfall accumulations ranged from 12 to 35 mm with hot and humid weather.
Three-quarters of winter wheat is harvested and 10 percent of spring wheat combined. About 30 percent of canola is swathed or received a preharvest application.
Soybean aphid populations continue to increase, and spraying has occurred.
Phytophthora wilt and sclerotinia wilt in soybeans are being monitored closely.
Most pastures are in good condition with hay supply and quality rated good.
INTERLAKE
Isolated thunder storms brought five to 15 mm of precipitation.
Winter wheat harvest is almost complete, and spring wheat swathing has begun.
About one-third of canola fields have been swathed.
Harvest of forage grass seeds continue with reports of average yields of timothy.
Haying of native ha land is in full swing, and annual crops are being cut for greenfeed and silage.
