The seeds have been sown and like many of you at this time of year, we’ve got our fingers crossed and we’re looking forward to the harvest.
In the case of The Western Producer, however it’s our new website that’s growing with each passing day, rain or shine.
While the weather has adversely affected the germination of crops across the Prairies this spring – too much rain for some, too little for others, cool temperatures for most – conditions here at WP headquarters have been favourable for web development.

And, as the saying goes, we’ve been making hay.
For starters, one of the most popular sections of the website, classified ads, will be completely redesigned. Subscribers will find the section more user friendly. They will be able to easily search for and find items of interest.
You can still place classified ads online also.
Our Production section editor, Mike Raine, has been developing an online weather package that he describes as “among the most advanced weather information available to producers in Western Canada.”
Our new and improved Markets section will allow subscribers the ability to follow changes in key agricultural commodities, exchange rates and stock market indices. And you can customize the site to follow items of interest to you.
In keeping with the latest in web design, readers will be able to share stories with friends, comment on them, even adjust the size of the text to read it.
And we’ll even be coming to a cab near you.
In addition, yours truly will be working with our team of reporters across Canada as we update the site daily with the latestin agricultural news and features of interest to our readers.
We hope our “harvest” will yield a state-of-the-art website. A site you’ll visit daily to catch up on the news, weather, markets information, and more that matters to you.
We’d like the new site to be more of a conversation between those of us reporting the news, and those of you taking the time to read it.
Share your thoughts on what you read, and how whatever issue we’re reporting upon affects you.
We’re looking forward to meeting you at the newly redesigned www.producer.com in the not-too-distant future.
Here’s to a successful harvest for all.
