Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts for July 29 was not available. It was $84.18 July 25.

U.S. hogs averaged $112.14 on a carcass basis July 29, up from $110.27 July 25.

The U.S. pork cutout was $115.85 per hundredweight July 29, down from $118.86 July 25.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to July 29 was 0.902 million. It was 0.923 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 0.948 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the July 26 Signature Four price was $258.17 per 100 kilograms, up from $254.43.

The July 26 Hams Marketing cash price was $256.17, while on July 19 it was $252.43. HyLife was $275.26 this week and $270.79 July 19. OlyWest was $266.40, up from $263.80 last week.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $271.80, from $267.20, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $276.19 this week. On July 19 it was $271.13.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $635-$690 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $610-$650 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $500-$550 per cwt., while mature cows were $500-$550 per cwt.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$485-$500 per cwt. for bulls and $450-$475 per cwt. for heifers.

Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.

All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bulls and heifers in Canada were not available. The mixed live animal price was $5.25 per lb.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 338 sheep and 315 lambs sold July 28.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,086 sheep and 414 goats sold July 21.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $300-$370 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $280-$330, 70-85 lb. were $280-$320, 86-105 lb. were $270-$330, and 106 lb. and heavier were $270-$335. Wool rams were $175-$275 per cwt. Cull ewes were $190-$305.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $270-$355, 55-69 lb. were $270-$315, 70-85 lb. were $280-$320, 86-105 lb. were $270-$315 and 106 lb. and heavier were $250-$300. Hair rams were $170-$265 per cwt. Cull ewes were $180-$285.
