The levies were set aside after both nations’ leaders met with Trump during the day and announced additional investments and manpower for their respective borders. However, 10 per cent tariffs on Chinese goods coming into the U.S. went into effect today, with China imposing retaliatory tariffs in kind.

– Five people were shot in an adult education centre in Orebro, Sweden, 200 kilometres west of Stockholm, on Tuesday. An unconfirmed media report said the shooter committed suicide afterwards. The school Campus Risbergska serves students over the age of 20, providing primary and secondary school courses as well as classes for immigrants, vocational training and adults with intellectual disabilities. There were fewer students than usual inside the building at the time of the shooting because many went home after taking a national test.
– More than 6,000 people fled the Greek island of Santorini in recent days after a series of earthquakes. More than 550 tremors were detected over the past three days in the neighbouring Aegean Sea, one of them with a magnitude of 4.8 on Tuesday. A 4.9-magnitude earthquake was detected last weekend. The seismic activity is expected to continue for another few days, if not weeks.
