Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts Aug. 26 was US$ not available this week.
U.S. hogs averaged $110.25 on a carcass basis Aug. 26, down from $117.80 Aug. 19.
The U.S. pork cutout was $102.23 per hundredweight Aug. 26, down from $117.15 Aug 19.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Aug. 27 was 2.393 million, down from 2.395 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.431 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Aug 27 Signature Four price was C$265.10 per 100 kilograms, down from $270.48.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada range from $4.00 – $4.25 per pound hot hanging weight with the occasional sale higher. Most animals purchased at $4.25 per pound. Canadian buyers are paying $4.60 – $4.80 for prime bulls and $4.50 – $4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.75-$4.00 per pound hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.50-$3.75. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1518 sheep sold Aug. 22.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 746 sheep and 312 goats sold Aug. 22.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $150-$190 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $170-$220, 70-85 lb. were $169-$215, 86-105 lb. were $160-$197 and 106 lb. and heavier were $150-$200. Wool rams were $90-$115 per cwt. Cull ewes were $85-$174.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $130-$180 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $140-$190, 70-85 lb. were $160-$200, 86-105 lb. were $150-$175 and 106 lb. and heavier were $130-$150. Hair rams were $100-$115 per cwt. Cull ewes were $87-$150.
