Robin Hood All-Purpose Flour is the subject of a recall announced today by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Smucker Foods of Canada Corp. is recalling flour that comes in the 10-kilogram bag with best before dates of April 2018.
In a March 28 news release, the CFIA said the flour may be contaminated with E. coli 0121, but there have been no illnesses reported in connection with it.
It said the recall “was triggered by findings by the CFIA during its investigation into a food-borne illness outbreak.”
It did not elaborate on the nature or location of that outbreak.
The flour in question has been distributed in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Columbia. It should not be consumed and should be either thrown away or returned to place of purchase.
Food contaminated with E. coli 0121 may not look or smell spoiled but can cause nausea, mild to severe stomach cramps and diarrhea.
