Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, January 23 – The Canadian dollar was mostly unchanged against US counterpart in early activity on Monday.

The loonie was holding steady with uncertainty about the future of North American trade deals under President Donald Trump.

At 8:46 CST Monday, the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7507 or US$=C$1.3321, which compares with Friday’s North American close of US$0.7503 or US$1=C$1.3327.

In Canadian domestic data, wholesale sales edged up 0.2 per cent to C$56.9 billion in November, a second consecutive increase, Statistics Canada said in a report on Monday.

The TSX was down 34.89 points at 8:46 CST Monday morning to sit at 15,512.99.
