Canadian Financial Close: TSX rises with equities

WINNIPEG, January 26 – The Canadian dollar advanced against its US counterpart Tuesday. Equity markets and crude oil led the way higher.

The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7105 or US$1 = C$1.4075.

The TSX posted substantial gains Tuesday as crude prices rebounded. The energy sector rose 4% to lead the charge. Bond markets fell lower.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 188.16 points, or 1.55%, to 12,331.32.

Canada’s agricultural sector performed as follows:

Buhler Industries————– $ 0.00 at $ 5.00
