SOUTHWEST
Seeding is almost completed for cereals, pulses and specialty crops. Seeding of soybeans is well underway with rising soil temperatures and good soil moisture. Some reseeding is occurring.
Drying conditions are excellent, but soil moisture remains saturated in some areas because of precipitation. Frost damage is the result of freezing temperatures and windy conditions.
Most early seeded cereals and canola crops have emerged. Winter cereals are rapidly growing and in the three to five leaf stage. Alfalfa growth remains slow because of cooler conditions.

NORTHWEST
Seeding of all crops is almost finished. Many are showing good emergence. Most cornfields for silage are also planted. There is some reseeding of early crops because of wind damage.
Flea beetles are causing concern in some areas.
Cattle are still on supplemental feed in pastures.
CENTRAL
Seeding progress is excellent with most crops planted and a good percentage emerging. Early cereals are in the two to five leaf stages. Edible bean seeding has begun.
Some reseeding of canola has occurred. Crop damage was a result of frost, wind, sleet and flea beetle injury.
Herbicide applications are almost completed, but pre-emergent treatments are delayed because of weather.
EASTERN
Seeding is mostly completed. Emerging spring cereals are in the one to two leaf stage and canola at the cotyledon stage.
Herbicide applications have begun. Caution is being used when rolling soybeans to avoid damage.
Soybean acres may be switched into oats, barley or canola if more progress is not made.
INTERLAKE
Seeding is again making good progress after many fields experienced snow and rain from the previous week. Some producers are nearly completed while wet fields challenge others.
Emergence of spring wheat varies from seedling to three-leaf stage. Canola is mostly at the cotyledon stage.
In-crop spraying on forage seed acres has just started for broadleaf and grassy weed control.
