Hogs fall again
An ample supply of market ready hogs and lower pork prices pushed hogs prices lower.
The average live slaughter weight of barrows and gilts in Iowa-Minnesota was 284.8 pounds two weeks ago, down .1 pound from the previous week but still seven lb. heavier than the same week last year.
Iowa-southern Minnesota hogs delivered were US$65-$65.50 per hundredweight Oct. 31, down from $69 Oct. 24.
On a carcass basis, U.S. hogs averaged $84.52 Oct. 31, down from $89.45 Oct. 24. The U.S. pork cutout dropped to $97.51 per cwt. Oct. 31, down from $98.25 Oct. 24.

Bison steady
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range were as high as C$4.55 per lb. hot hanging weight.
Grade A heifers sold up to $4.35.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs steady to lower
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported 1,212 sheep and 103 goats sold Oct. 27.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $217-$255 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $220-$256, 70-85 lb. were $205-$249, 86-105 lb. were $190-$216 and 106 lb. and heavier were $171-$185.
Wool rams were $48-$100 per cwt. Cull ewes were $45-$79.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $179-$205 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $192-$220, 70-85 lb. were $180-$215, 86-105 lb. were $180-$195 and 106 lb. and heavier were $166-$177.
Hair rams were $70-$115 per cwt. Cull ewes were $45-$125.
Feeder kids lighter than 60 lb. were $170-$200. Good kid goats lighter than 70 lb. were $190-$220. Those heavier than 70 lb. were $190-$230 per cwt. Nannies were $62.50-$170 per cwt. Billies were $120-$150.
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 2,285 sheep and lambs and 78 goats traded Oct. 27. All lambs sold barely steady to slightly lower. Sheep traded at prices $3-$5 cwt. lower. Goats sold about steady.
