HOGS
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$49.43 per hundredweight July 27, down from $53.34 July 20.
U.S. hogs averaged $62.50 on a carcass basis July 27, down from $76.61 July 20.
The U.S. pork cutout was $76.97 per cwt. July 27, down from $85.52 July 20.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to July 28 was 1.987 million, down from 2.382 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.234 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the July 28 Signature Five price was C$167.94 per 100 kilograms, down from $179.95 the previous week. On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $76.18, down from $81.62.

BISON
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.90-$60 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.60 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.80. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
LAMBS
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 956 sheep and lambs and 55 goats sold July 23. All lambs and good quality sheep traded at prices $7-$10 cwt higher. Goats sold steady.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,159 sheep and 426 goats sold July 23.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $205-$250 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $220-$250, 70-85 lb. were $220-$249, 86-105 lb. were $220-$240 and 106 lb. and heavier were $215-$230.
Wool rams were $106-$125 per cwt. Cull ewes were $95-$151.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $200-$230 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $220-$250, 70-85 lb. were $220-$245, 86-105 lb. were $220-$235 and 106 lb. and heavier were $200-$218.
Hair rams were $117-$145 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$125.
