The Western Producer’s annual spring photo contest has come to a close. Thank you to everyone who participated!
It was difficult for us to to choose the winners from the 470 pictures that were submitted. A wide array of images were entered, pictures of multiple generations of a family working together, farmers seeding through beautiful sunsets, and many images taken with drones, as you will see in the entries below.

The winning image was submitted by Dennis Duncan. It’s of him and his granddaughter, Addi, examining the depth of the canola seed he just planted.
We chose the image because of the story told in through its clear focus on family, as well as its composition and lighting quality.
Duncan won a $500 gift certificate from Don’s Photo, as well as some great WP swag.

This is a picture of my granddaughter Addi checking out where the canola seeds are in the ground. She is not quite 3 and loves to ride with papa in the tractor.
Second place went to Tammy Thomas for this excellent sunset seeding image sent in through twitter.
The second and third place winners both won some WP swag.

We liked the multiple elements in the picture, and he did a great jog getting a nice exposure which can be difficult when shooting towards the sun.
