Agriculture is a major political subject in Washington, with U.S. legislators spending much time debating and wrangling over farming issues in the Senate and House of Representatives

It’s also a bureaucratically huge operation in D.C. with the U.S. Department of Agriculture holding an important presence in the core of the capital. It’s economically high-profile, with USDA outlooks and statistics regularly moving world markets.

But agriculture also holds an important place in the heart of America’s great museum collections gathered around the Mall, the home of the Smithsonian collections.
