Viterra is building a new high-throughput grain terminal at Wadena, Sask., about two hours east of Saskatoon.
In a Sept. 15 news release, the company announced its intention to begin construction on the new elevator this fall.
Completion is expected in two years.
The facility will have a storage capacity of 34,000 tonnes, and will be able to load up to 156 rail cars through a loop track.
“We’ve worked closely with farmers in Wadena and surrounding areas for many years, and we’re excited to be renewing our commitment to them through a new, world class grain facility that will meet their needs in today’s competitive operating environment,” said Kyle Jeworski, Viterra president and chief executive officer for North America.
“By revitalizing our presence there, we will provide customers with convenient access to the superior service, marketing opportunities and advice that makes us an industry leader.”
