With 80 different sensors in their catalogue, Monnit Corp. is in the business of monitoring almost anything industrial. Several of these sensors might be applicable to farm security.

Vehicle Detection — This dual-mode sensor detects and counts tracks vehicles coming and going, and records how long they stay. Time of entry and stay time can be compared to time to remove grain, diesel or other products.

Infrared Motion and Occupancy — The passive infrared sensor wirelessly monitors motion by people or animals and alert when an area is accessed. In livestock settings, you can measure motion, temperature and humidity with one sensor.

Open-Closed — Monnit’s sensor uses an external magnetic switch and trigger magnet to detect status of a door or hatch. It can be configured to only send notifications during specific parts of the day. Data sheds light on access patterns.

Vibration Meters — Earth gives a detectable little quiver when a blacked out Western Star with cattle trailer and portable corral slowly rumbles into a pasture 20 miles from your house at 3 am. This sensor feels the vibration and reports it so you can be alerted if a barrier has been breached or if vibrations indicate an auger or semi-tractor .

Propane Tank — Remotely monitor propane levels from anywhere with smartphone or PC. If someone is transferring propane at night, log the times at which the thefts take place.
