BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Reuters) — Argentine grain exporters have asked the government to identify farmers who are growing drought-resistant genetically modified wheat so they can halt sales from those areas until top importer Brazil accepts the technology.
Brazil recently approved genetically modified wheat flour but the product is expected to meet resistance from millers and global consumers.
Argentine biotech firm Bioceres said in September that 135,000 acres of its GM drought-resistant HB4 wheat had been planted by farmers in Argentina.
