Agribition 2024: Here are the highlights from this year’s events

Canadian Western Agribition 2024 brought livestock enthusiasts from across the Prairies and the country to Regina Nov. 25 to 30 to witness some of the top cattle in the world compete for prizes.

The event usually has an impact of more than $115 million on the Saskatchewan economy.

The event culminates with the beef Supreme championship where the winners of 15 different shows come together to compete for the top prize.

Red Wilbar Hennessy 3K, a Red Angus bull from Wilbar at Dundurn, Sask., and co-owners Rohrich Cutting Edge Ranch in North Dakota earned the slap from Nate Marin on behalf of the five judges.

Hennessy qualified in three shows: the Olds Fall Classic in Olds, Alta., Farmfair International in Edmonton and Agribition in Regina.

The Supreme champion female was Wheatland Lady 211H from Wheatland Cattle Co. at Bienfait, Sask., Michelson Land and Cattle and G2 Cattle Co. She topped the 38 females in the Supreme after winning the Agribition Simmental show with calf at side, Wheatland Bull 4177M.

There were many other exciting moments at Agribition 2024, including the repeat win of B Bar Rainmaker 4K in the Limousin show.

The bull faced no other competitors in his 2022 birth date class, but judge Craig Wilgenbusch of Halbrite, Sask., named him the grand champion when Rainmaker came up against the other top bulls in the show.

Agribition also hosts several other events and competitions including for grains and livestock ag tech, where Saskatchewan company Farm Simple was a multiple winner.

And in the cute, cuddly and warm category, the alpaca show at Agribition 2024 included a new evaluation system not used before in Canada.
