Rainmaker 4K is now producing offspring at B Bar Cattle

B Bar Rainmaker 4K dominates with his muscling and size, and that enabled his repeat performance as grand champion Limousin bull at Canadian Western Agribition.

The bull faced no other competitors in his 2022 birth date class, but judge Craig Wilgenbusch of Halbrite, Sask., named him the grand champion when Rainmaker came up against the other top bulls in the show.

Terra Boon, who was on the halter with Rainmaker in the ring, says they could identify the bull when he was young out in the pasture at the B Bar Cattle ranch near Lucky Lake, Sask.

“His sire and his dam were a really good cross; they were two really good cattle that we home raised ourselves,” she said.

Two years ago, the ranch had Rainmaker in its commercial pen in The Yards at Agribition. Last year it showed him as a yearling and he won grand champion bull.

The bull’s quality has brought opportunities for the family with partnerships with Bohrson Marketing Services, Canadian Sires and La Rhone Limousines of South Africa.

“We’re really proud to have him as a part of our show string and also part of our herd,” she says.

His first crop calves are “beautiful,” says Boon.

“They still have the really good characteristics and really good traits.”

B Bar Cattle is a family operation, with Terra’s in-laws, Delaney and Deanna Boon, breeding Limousins for 35 years. Terra and her husband, Eric, are part of the ranch with their children, Rozlyn and Liam.

“He’s kid broke. Our kids love him. We go see him every day. He loves the kids. We’re super proud to raise a great bull.”
