LANGHAM, Sask. — A remote-controlled, electric drive system retrofit for straight grain augers promises to make moving them around the yard much easier.
“It’s very handy and a lot better than trying to push them around by hand and getting into chiropractor bills,” said Doug Kramble of Kramble Industries at his vendor booth at the Ag In Motion outdoor farm show near Saskatoon.
The drive system has an electric motor mounted on each drive wheel, which provides a good ground-drive option for growers with electric augers without hydraulic systems to drive the wheels.
“It’s got a lot of applications that I think make it unique and potentially superior to some of the other products that are out there. First of all, it’s 12 volt electric, so you’re not dealing with hydraulics that can be a real issue in the winter,” said Kramble.
“It’s also useful to take one of the drives, just a single wheel and use it to drive an auger that’s dedicated to a dryer pivot, and you’ll be able to move that back and forth by remote control.”
