The Saskatchewan Party is taking two NDP candidates to task for social media comments about farmers.

The party issued a release citing Facebook comments from Saskatoon Northwest candidate Clayton Wilson, who in March 2014 said “stupid farmers” led to the demise of the Canadian Wheat Board.

“CWB is now competing with independent stupid farmers that wanted ‘fee’ (sic) market,” he said in one of his posts.

The Sask Party also noted that another candidate, Mark Jeworski in Weyburn-Big Muddy, posted last December that Alberta’s Bill 6, which extends worker safety rules to farms, sounded reasonable.

The release asked if Cam Broten and the NDP support Bill 6 and whether the party would bring in similar legislation if elected.

The province is in the second day of a provincial election.
