FARGO, N.D. – In recent years, wet field conditions have forced agricultural manufacturers to offer rubber track options for air carts, sprayers, swathers, combines and grain carts. There are even conversion kits to turn round rubber tire tractors into track machines.
However, it’s not necessarily true that all rubber tracks are intended for wet conditions. Wil-Rich now has a rubber track option for its 60 foot folding toolbar, and it has nothing to do with mud, said sales manager Gordon Nyquist.
“The reason for rubber tracks is farmers need to carry bigger loads in the field.”

“With tracks under this toolbar, you can carry 10 tons of dry or 2,600 gallons of liquid. That’s more than you can carry on inflatable tires.”
He said farmers who buy a big toolbar like this are looking for maximum load capacity. That automatically locks them into tracks rather than tires.
Nyquist said the folding toolbar frame with seven inch square main bars has a variety of applications.
“Farmers use it as a planter, for vertical tillage, strip till – just about anything you can think of to hang on to it.”
He said 60 feet is the widest toolbar the company makes at the moment. Wil-Rich has a 90 foot toolbar in the field testing stage that is expected to be on the market next year.
The rubber track units installed by Wil-Rich are supplied by Land Lover in Illinois. They are available as a 24 inch wide track on 120 inch centres or the narrower 16.5 inch track on 132 inch centres.
The 60 foot folding toolbar with rubber tracks sells for $79,000.
