Big, heavy tools can be a pain to store.
Rather than have these tools take up valuable space on top of a workbench, Ken and Jason Sawby devised a way to store them underneath yet be easily accessible when needed.
“I’ve got the inch and the three-quarter drive sockets, and you don’t use them very often, but you’ve got to have them. They’re big boxes that take a pile of room off your bench,” said Ken, who farms near Maple Creek, Sask., with son Jason.

“I put a pipe down, with swivels on it and a base to set the whole socket set case on. When you need them, you swing them out and take what you want.
“It was wasted space and this works great. They’re bulky and heavy. This way, you get them down and out of the road. You can swing them back underneath when you’re done with them.”
The Sawbys anchored the main pipe to the floor with bolts. Then each shelf is mounted to a pipe-on-a-pipe setup. The heavy steel shelves easily handle the bulky, heavy socket sets.
