DRAYTON VALLEY, Alta. – While he was selling his sucker rod fence posts, Bob McLeod said one of his customers approached him with an idea for a gate latch system.

The unit uses an over centre lever that makes it easy to open and close barbed wire gates in fences. It attaches to the post on the gate with a metal band that loops over the corner post of the fence.

“He didn’t want to build them so we started building them. They slide over the 27/8 tubing you use on the corner, with another set screw,” said McLeod.

“They’re a relatively new product for us. We’ve had a good response, but we’ve only been doing them for a year. We have one built for wooden posts and one for 27/8 tubing. They sell for $30 each.”

McLeod has dealers throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta that handle his products. For information, call 877-542-4979.
