The Lethbridge portion of the great wool challenge was held May 7, and although that was awhile ago now, a few people have called wondering about the photos. There isn’t room for everything in the print edition, which is why Western Producer readers didn’t see them. But there’s plenty of room here on the web.

This is a group shot of the Lethbridge area team that participated in the International Wool Challenge May 7, held in a Lethbridge shopping mall. The idea is to shear a sheep, spin the wool and knit a sweater as quickly as possible. The event raised about $1,000 for breast cancer research. It took just over 13 hours for the group to get the wool from sheep to sweater.
Shearer Dave Carlson relieved a Shetland sheep of its fleece, using manual clippers that the contest rules require.
Magdalena Thiim of Nobleford, Alta., begins knitting part of a sweater.
Carolyn Burke of Coaldale, Alta., spins wool that left the sheep only moments earlier.
Sharon Hudemka, owner of a business called Knitting Time, and organizer of the Lethbridge team in the International Wool Challenge, poses with last year's completed sweater.
