Every time I hear the word strike, I see red. Alberta nurses just went on strike and got more money. More nurses and airline pilots will likely be next.
No doubt this trend will continue through the whole economy. Business and industry, inevitably, will add this to their cost of operation so that in about a year the cost of everything will increase. They will be back to square one, even with each other.

Agriculture needs to prepare for government spending cuts
As government makes necessary cuts to spending, what can be reduced or restructured in the budgets for agriculture?
This has been the trend for about 25 years and that is why agriculture is having to beg our governments for subsidies.
How long must we turn the other cheek?
Every year, because of environment and resources becoming more difficult to acquire, it takes more labor to produce the same goods as last year. We have to work harder and not ask for more pay.
Farmers will not keep taking this forever. One of these days they will start swinging the biggest club in the world, stop buying new equipment. Consumers and governments will then realize how important agriculture is to our economy.
