The racist letter of John I. Fisher in Oct. 12 Open Forum, “Post no bills”, reflects both bad timing and poor taste …

I challenge the writer to provide written evidence to Open Forum which would back his false statements.

Please provide us with the specific act of Parliament that says that federal civil servants be hired merely on their ability to speak French while disregarding work skills. Many civil servants here in the West do not speak French.

Pierre Trudeau has died and has been laid to rest. Give him the respect and dignity he deserves. And while you claim that he failed to bring peace, order and good government, he did give us one thing – the Charter of Rights, which gives us freedom from having to serve as cannon fodder for the British empire.

Much like the Wurlitzer jukebox, 45 RPM records, the Union Jack, fender skirts and hula hoops, colonial governments have all but disappeared. This is Canada, Mr. Fisher, and not England.
