Someone must stand up to dictatorship

In response to Mr. Horne’s letter in the March 10, 2022, edition of The Western Producer’s Open Forum.

The federal Liberals, NDP and some conservative elements have embraced the World Economic Forum’s Davos Agenda and the United Nation’s Agenda 2030 as domestic policy. The prime minister issued letters in December to his cabinet ministers with specific goals and timelines to achieve a low-carbon, “green” economy, meeting WEF/United Nations agenda requirements. Under these policies, rural Canada will, in effect, become an enlarged national park, without tools or people to harvest resource wealth.

A variety of Canadian currency bills, ranging from $5 to $50, lay flat on a table with several short stacks of loonies on top of them.

Agriculture needs to prepare for government spending cuts

As government makes necessary cuts to spending, what can be reduced or restructured in the budgets for agriculture?

I interpret the low-carbon economy as “no food, no fuel, no structure.” The capital and time frame to transition from conventional carbon intensive production will be too prohibitive.

Even the sustainable/regenerative ag producers will have a tough time given our climatic conditions and distances involved in getting goods to market in a low-carbon environment. Plus, livestock operations will be under pressure and possibly be penalized or made illegal due to methane emissions, water use, animal welfare issues, etc.

It is clear the Liberal-NDP government wants to rule Canada as a dictatorship. There are numerous bills in the House of Commons, Senate and provincial legislatures which will effectively kill free speech, make thought a potential crime, introduce a digital ID system with limitless abuse of power via government sanctioned coercion (a.k.a. “social credit system” ) and seize financial accounts and assets without charge.

It appears our various levels of government have succumbed to foreign influence. The Liberals and their foreign associates are a clear and present danger to rural Canada’s people and wealth generation.

There is concern, since Jodie Wilson-Raybould’s departure as justice minister and attorney general, how many charges against Trudeau and his associates have been dismissed related to SNC Lavelin, ethics violations, treason, charter and bill of rights infringements, etc.

The Canada we knew will soon be effectively lost forever if the citizenry will not emerge from its complacency. Thank goodness there are still people out there willing to participate in rallies and bring attention to what the mainstream media refuses to cover or tries to distract from. Rural Canada and its farmers have everything to lose with foreign-influenced federal policies within the next decade.

Freedom closely linked to democracy

A pair of recent letters to the editor cause me to write.

In a letter by Mr. Hans Visser of Taber to the Taber Times in its Feb. 23, 2022 edition, he takes a position that I strongly agree with.

His perception is that “freedom brings with it responsibility to adhere to a democratically elected government.” We may not always agree with our federal or provincial counterparts, but we must go along with the majority in an elected system.

So true is the statement: “We are encouraged but not forced to be vaccinated.”

I love Canada and I love Alberta. I do not understand the flying of Canada and Alberta flags representing lack of freedom and protesting getting vaccinated.

An extremely good and relevant Open Forum letter to the editor also appeared in the Feb 17, 2022, edition of The Western Producer newspaper, written by Mr. Ed Donkersgoed of Coaldale, Alta.

These letters from rural Canadians are ones that all Canadians should find and read. Both he and Mr. Visser, I’m very proud of.

Many of us in the West are first to third generation Canadians and very proud to be citizens of Canada. Think about war torn Europe in the last 150 years.
