Freedom Convoy wanted to meet with prime minister

The Freedom Convoy that departed from Grande Prairie, Alta., on Jan. 29, 2022, was a proud moment for this Albertan. I took the time to read and research various publications, such as The Western Producer, and followed cogent arguments made on both sides of this issue. I found that as I followed evidence that leads to the truth, regardless of whether it fits with my original pre-suppositions, it clearly indicated that this was truly a “freedom convoy.”

Determining tariff compensation will be difficult but necessary

Prime minister Mark Carney says his government will support canola farmers, yet estimating the loss and paying compensation in an equitable fashion will be no easy task, but it can be done.

The Freedom Convoy, despite many hardships along the way, attained it’s objective, to reach Ottawa with the expressed purpose to speak to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. There, our “coward” prime minister hid in his home, pretending he and his children had COVID, even though his wife had developed COVID in the early part of the pandemic.

Since the COVID-19 virus was first reported in Wuhan, China in late 2019, the governments and health authorities have put in place protocols, mandates and health measures to ensure public safety. The problem lies in the over-reach exerted by these same authorities to use and abuse our “rights and freedoms” guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, signed in 1982.

Vaccinated and unvaccinated truckers have been crossing the Canadian-U.S. Border at all points of entry since March 11, 2020.  Our goods and supplies kept moving freely across the border without any due concerns until November 2021, when the federal government over-reached its mandate, including provincial mandates, and decided that mandatory vaccination was required for all truckers.

The truckers said “enough is enough.” The Freedom Convoy had no intention to spend weeks sitting idle in the streets of Ottawa.  Remember, these are people who work daily and need to pay for their and their families’ necessities.

The problem was Justin Trudeau and his Liberal federal government. Period.
